Apple to make a smaller iPhone that is affordable to all?

So there are speculations that Apple will be releasing an iPhone model that will be smaller and cheaper. No one has any information on about what size it would be but it makes sense that Apple will be releasing a more affordable version of it's premium offering. This is to combat Android which has product offerings for all classes. Rumor has it that the smaller iPhone would cost about $200-300 (P9000-13500) off contract. It sounds so unbelievable because for one thing, the Ipod touch 8GB and 32GB falls at the same price point. I'm pegging it at around $300. Still unbelievable but Steve Jobs has a knack for making an unbelievable idea into something awesome. Ofcourse, that price is in the United States and so when it reaches the Philippines it will retail for about P18000 or so.

Check out below for images of Phone size comparisons. I'm guessing the smaller iPhone would have a 3.0 screen instead of 3.5. It might come in the size of the Sony X8 or even the size of the original Ipod Classic.
