PLDT reinvents the Landline. Introduces the TELPAD.

YES. It's a tablet. But wait, there's more!

"Enter the PLDT TelPad. A world first, its conception, design, and construction was done in the Philippine’s own backyard. It combines the traditional landline that has been connecting Filipinos everywhere with cutting edge new digital technology to provide a multi-functional digital communication device that seems to pop right out of a popular science fiction movie.
The device itself is a merging of old and new technology with a build somewhat reminiscent of a fax machine. The traditional handset can be found at the left of the device, while the touchscreen display is actually a docked 7-inch android based tablet."

The tablet sports it's own custom user interface and works like a regular tablet. It houses a 1ghz processor, Android 2.2, 2gb built in storage, an SD expansion slot, a Usb Slot, and a 2megapixel camera.

Now we're talking about the future. It's kinda like those touchscreen phones you see in movies except that this time it's real and can be found in the common home. It functions like a regular telephone but now you can also go for video conferences and calls because it's hooked up to the internet!

Awesome ain't it?

But the big question is. Is this the end of the line for landlines?

Apple iCampus store in Ateneo leaks the Apple SRP prices of the iPad?

The Apple iPad was slated for a December 13 release in the Philippines but has since been pushed to a later date. Mark December 17, 2010 on your calendars for official retail of the iPad. Starting that day as well you may approach the Apple stores if something goes wrong with your iPad. Yhep. Official Apple Support!

But those details are not the best things to watch out for. It's the PRICES. Everyone's been stipulating how much they would be and prices were expected to be somewhere around 25k as a starting point but looks like Apple has a surprise for us all.

It appears the cheapest iPad, the 16gb wifi only version, will retail for only 23,990. That's actually cheaper than some online stores and from what everyone expected! Nothing's official yet but check out the following flyer. Ateneo has been offering the iPad for about a week now and they printed out flyers where they put their discounted price against the official Apple SRP.

Let the picture speak for itself!

Why would a hard drive cost $300 dollars, aside from it possibly being embedded with precious stones? Try "Playboy edition".

So HDD's are so similar nowadays that each manufacturer needs to come up with something brilliant to differentiate their product, aside from the usual speed boosts or docks. Publisher Bondi Digital has decided to appeal to the adult market, though, and  it is releasing a Playboy branded external drive which is full of Playboy content. :)) :)) Starting from 1953 all the way to the present!

YES. It contains every single issue of Playboy magazines. And usually, 250gb hard disks cost about $60 but this one costs a stagerring $300 or 5 times the price of a regular hard disk. I guess well, to it's target market, it's a very good deal. I just don't see myself spending $300 for digital copies of the magazine. :))

But then again, it's a collection you can boast about. And if you missed the editions that were around even before you were alive.. this is a must buy. Buying every edition since 1953 probably costs around $1500 so this is worth it, i guess. And then again, digital copies are cheaper. Is anyone buying?

Kinect hack lets you control a web browser using only The Force

FROM Engadget.com

Hacking the Xbox 360 Kinect is all about baby steps on the way to what could ultimately amount to some pretty useful homebrew. Here's a good example cooked up by some kids at the MIT Media Lab Fluid Interfaces Group attempting to redefine the human-machine interactive experience. DepthJS is a system that makes Javascript talk to Microsoft's Kinect in order to navigate web pages, among other things. Remember, it's not that making wild, arm-waving gestures is the best way to navigate a web site, it's just a demonstration that you can. Let's hope that the hacking communinity picks up the work and evolves it into a multitouch remote control plugin for our home theater PCs. Boxee, maybe you can lend a hand?

How to increase your chances of winning the lotto

Most of the Filipinos are hoping to win a lottery game endorsed by the Philippine Charity Sweeptakes Office (PCSO). Since PCSO’S beginning, a lot of games of chance evolved through charity term. If you asked dignified persons about buying a lotto ticket they would really tell you for charity sake. But if you asked common people about buying it, they would really tell you about a different scenario. They buy lotto tickets because they want for a change in their lives.

Well, the succeeding paragraphs of this article will help you open your mind for many facts about lottery game draws. We will consider first the facts about each of the kinds of PCSO lotto draws before we will discuss strategies on how to increase your chance of winning PCSO lotto draw.

The 1st fact is that there is no possible computer system that will give you n-combination and will be drawn in the coming game draw. The letter n stands for 2, 3, 4 and 6. Further, these are the EZ2 Lotto, Swertres, 4Digit and the 6-combination lotto draws.

The 2nd fact is that each of the n combinations follows a rule, that is, randomization. That is why PCSO and DTI officers weigh the balls first before they used the balls to obtain a day’s results. The other thing is that they also randomly choose a set of balls per game to minimize errors. In other words, the people who are handling these lotto draws would like to see to it that there is no bias in the choosing of balls prior to each lotto draw. They also invite a set of guests per game to witness each draw to ensure that all draws are done in an honest way.

The 3rd fact is the only risk of biasness is the database of PCSO. If someone can hack the PCSO system that handles a large amount of data of sold tickets, then he can manipulate the system and generate a winning ticket after each draw.
After the break, you will see strategies on how to increase your probability of winning each kind of lotto draws.

How to Increase Your Chance of Winning 6/55 Grand Lotto Draw

The Grand Lotto 6/55 game has 28,989,675 6-number combinations. Each of the 6-number combinations has a chance of winning equivalent to 1 out of 28,989,675. In other words, the probability of winning is 0.0000000344950400444296 or

or almost nothing probability.

Hints
If you would like to be a 100% winner of this lotto draw, then you have to spend 28,989,675 x P20.00 = P579,793,500.00. As amended in R.A. 1169, the prize of each lotto draw is tax-free. If you would like to gamble this large amount of money in the next draw (November 24, 2010) then you will have a profit of more than P100 million. Why more than P100 million? Because the Grand Lotto prize by Wednesday will reach as much as P620 million if no one will buy all combinations. That is, P620 million less P580 million is P40 million profit. But if you will buy all combinations, then the prize of this game will reach as much as P750 million because PCSO will allot maybe 20%-30% of all sales as an increment to current’s prize.

The Dual-screen Laptop: Acer ICONIA

I don't think i need to say much here. Just watch the video!

"Acer's dual-screen Iconia laptop is bold, for sure -- eschewing a physical keyboard for another display -- but its LCD panels are also mighty glossy. If you've got a light in the vicinity above you, there's gonna be glare -- we saw it on stage, and we just saw it now in person. That said, the screen is clear and the touch functionality is pretty clever (five fingers open up a widget where you can scroll through other touch-friendly apps). The keyboard, on the other hand, is pretty hard to use -- even the rep admitted there's a learning curve. You can't rest your fingers down without hitting something, of course. We managed to browse to Engadget, but it took several tries"  (From Engadget.com)

Acer jumps in the tablet market with 3 tablets!

images from Engadget.com

The first one is a smartphone. It boasts  1024x480 screen resolution on a 4.8 screen , a two megapixel front-facing camera, eight megapixel rear camera (with LED flash), 720p video recording, a six-axis Gyroscope + accelerometer package and LED edge lighting. It's got a full metal body and inside is Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11n WiFi, HSDPA support, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and an HDMI output.

The 10.1 inch is sexy. It carries a dual-core 1GHz processor, an HDMI output and a native 1280x800screen resolution, a 5 megapixel rear camera, an "HD" front-facing camera for video calling and full multitouch support. AND ONLY 13.3mm thin!

As for the the 7-inch tablet, It also sports a 1280x800 screen resolution but with a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU, DLNA technology, WiFi and integrated 3G.

Both will have 1080p output over HDMI, a ten-point multitouch system and an inbuilt Gyroscope for gaming purposes.

Shipping date is April 2011 so my guess is that it'll ship with Android 3.0 HONEYCOMB once it ships.

A worthy Ipod Competitor

I was really psyched to know that ARCHOS was realeasing a 2.3 inch, 3.2inch, 4.3 inch, 70inch and a 101 inch tablet packed with features at super affordable prices but now i hear they're also refreshing the vision line with newer and sexier portable media players.

]\
This one here is the Archos 35 vision featuring a 3.5inch screen  with HDMI output, FULL HD playback, 8gb with a microSD slot and 4 hours of video playback. To add to that, it plays almost every video format there is.

The best part is that it costs only 99euros or $129.
That's just P5,800.

The new ipod touch costs $229 or a little over P10,000.
The catch is ofcourse, the ipod has wifi, 300,000+ apps and a camera.
What the Archos has over the Ipod's ofcourse is it's compatibility with just about any video format available.

Summary of the iPod Touch competitors to be on the market:

Archos 24 Vision (4GB) for $59 MSRP, mostly just for audio and basic video stuff, no touch screen
Archos 3 Vision (8GB) for $79 MSRP older video playback, no HD/HDMI, no Android/WiFi/Bluetooth/USB-host stuff
Archos 28 Internet Tablet (4GB) for $99 MSRP has a smaller screen, no HD playback, no HDMI output.
Archos 35 Vision (8GB, microsd) for $129 MSRP has 3.5″ touch screen, 720p/HDMI, but no Android/WiFi/Bluetooth/USB-host/camcorder stuff.
Archos 43 Vision (8GB, microsd) for $129 MSRP has 4.3″ touch screen, basic video playback
Archos 50 Vision (probably starts around $149) has 5″ touch screen, 720p/HDMI, 250GB/500GB hard drive and microsd storage
Archos 32 Internet Tablet (8GB) for $149 MSRP has a slightly smaller screen, no HD playback, no HDMI output.
Archos 43 Internet Tablet (16GB, microsd) for $249 MSRP Android and has all HD/HDMI/HD camcorder features

Also rumored:
Archos 32 Internet Tablet (8GB) with MicroSD slot instead of second set of volume buttons, possibly to replace current A32IT
Archos 35 Internet Tablet (8GB) possibly with capacitive amoled screen

LG releases a TABLET. I say it's a portable TV with errr... features.

The world is going crazy over tablets at the moment. We have the Apple Ipad, The Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Archos Internet Tablets fighting for top spots.

And here comes LG releasing their own into the wild only to be made fun of. Seriously, with specs like it... I'm not really sure people will buy it. They want something fast, something portable, something cool. The new LG E-Note H1000B  isn't any of those.

Specs include:

  • Windows 7 Starter edition (can be updated to Professional)
  • 10.1-inch LED touch screen
  • 16GB SSD
  • 1GB RAM
  • Intel Atom Z510 or Z530 processor
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • microSD card slot

But then again, maybe this is just a teaser. Maybe they're releasing this just to take attention off another tablet they're about to unveil. Release a bad one then release an awesome one to make it look even more awesome isn't a bad idea at all. :)) :)) Or is it? Anyway. Let's see how well it does.

I mean, let's not forget. Even Cherry and Redfox have their own tablets too! At affordable prices even!
